Additional Rules for the .GOV.GI Subdomain

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to describe the rules for the allocation of names within the gov.gi subdomain.

Scope

This procedure applies to all names requested for allocation within the gov.gi subdomain and the neutral subdomains.

Process Detail

The gov.gi subdomain is for the registration of names relating to Gibraltar government departments, local government bodies and associated government funded organisations.

The method of determining what name an organisation may adopt shall be:

• One domain per trading name of the organisation will be allowed.
• Name requested shall reflect the legal name or trading name of the organsation.
• The chosen name shall minimise the risk of confusion with other similarly named organisation and avoid the risk of inadvertent masquerading.
